The Capital Times published a Q&A with the new director of the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (MMOCA), Paul Baker Prindle, a Wisconsin native and UW–Madison alumnus.

Prindle, who earned his MFA in printmaking from the School of Education’s Art Department, recently returned to Wisconsin to head the museum, starting his role on May 9. Previously he served for five years as director of the Carolyn Campagna Kleefeld Contemporary Art Museum at California State University, Long Beach.

“I’m excited to step into this role, because there’s so much possibility,” Baker Prindle said. “Having been around the museum since it was the Madison Art Center, it’s an enviable position to be in.”

When asked why he wanted to return to Wisconsin, Baker Prindle expressed great love for the museum and the city.

“I didn’t think this museum had a place for me,” Baker Prindle said. “I didn’t imagine I’d be back here. But I started (here). I had a job in the shop 25 years ago. It’s a real homecoming.”
