Liesl Chatman is a spoon carver, a kolroser, a teacher, and an advocate for education and equity in all walks of life. We’re excited to welcome Chatman to campus, where she will be the 2023 Folk Artist-in-Residence. Partnering with the UW Art Department, Chatman will be hosting a regular carving club, as well as working with students in the woodshop to teach the art of spoon carving and kolrosing.

Join us online for our first 2023 artist-in-residence talk with spoon carver Liesl Chatman who will be discussing her innovative approach to educational equity through spoon carving, kolrosing, and community engagement.

The event is free and open to the public, please email folklife@letsci.wisc.edu to receive the Zoom link.
