Take Me with You is an art exhibition by Audrey Hansa, an undergraduate BFA student right here at UW-Madison. The show focuses on 7 stories of fictional characters—comprised of women and non-binary people—and how aspects of their lives are influenced by racing culture. Through comics, screen printing, painting, and more, visitors are encouraged to get inside the minds of these characters, and delve into drastically different narratives.
Both the art field and racing culture are immensely dominated by cis, white, hetero men. This exhibition not only is about the joy of storytelling, but it also focuses on telling the tales of people who are historically underrepresented and shut out of these areas.
No matter what elements reach out to guests the most, Audrey’s hope is that you’ll walk away with something positive—be it inspiration, a cool print, or a really good song stuck in your head.
