For the fifth year, Cap Times reporters asked several Madisonians to share their “bright ideas” for the new year. We will publish the 2018 edition of Bright Ideas throughout the next week.

I want somebody to sponsor a building that has a gallery space for young people under the age of 18 who can have exhibitions, like a young person’s museum.

That building would have a walk-in gallery and three studios attached to that: one for an international artist, one for a national artist and one for a local artist. That local artist is a young person from the community from the age of 13 to 18 who would be an artist in residence.

The international artist would be somebody with standing, who is established, who will be able to mentor the national artist and the national artist will mentor the local. Those three artists would run the program.
