MADISON (WKOW) — A UW-Madison student who has found success in on-campus art shows is launching an off-campus showcase to get more eyes on his art and the art of his classmates.
Bryce Dailey is a junior at UW-Madison. His art has been featured several times in the Memorial Union’s annual Student Art Show. However, he and several of his classmates wanted more showcasing experience, so Dailey organized an independent show.
“It’s kind of hard for younger artists to find opportunities sometimes,” Dailey said. “I just want to kind of organize and collaborate with some classmates, other people from the UW community and also from across the Midwest.”
Midwest Print Showcase is featuring 17 different artists, 10 of which are from UW-Madison. Dailey explains, print art is when an artist takes an image from a plate or a block and then transfers it onto paper or other materials.
“Printmaking is multidisciplinary, there’s lots of different forms of it,” Dailey said. “You can do etching, woodcut, screenprint, there’s probably 10 different techniques in the gallery.”
This exhibit brings artists from Wisconsin, Nebraska and Iowa together. Dailey says showcases help bring the art community together.
