Two faculty members from the UW–Madison School of Education are winners of the 2025–26 Vilas Associates Competition, which recognizes “research of the highest quality and significance.”
The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research announced that Jina Chun, an assistant professor in the Department of Rehabilitation Psychology and Special Education, and Katie Hudnall, an assistant professor in the Art Department, have been selected as Vilas Associates.
This prestigious award, funded by the William F. Vilas Estate Trust, provides recipients with up to two-ninths of summer salary support (including fringe costs) for 2025 and 2026, as well as a $12,500 flexible research fund for each of the two fiscal years.
Chun and Hudnall are among 20 faculty members from across UW–Madison to receive the honor this year. Recipients were selected competitively by divisional research committees based on detailed proposals demonstrating the impact and significance of their research.
