John Hitchcock, a professor of printmaking with the School of Education’s Art Department, recently did a Q&A with a reporter from The Capital Times discussing his “artistic roots, narrative resilience, and what Native heritage means to him.”

Hitchcock speaks not only about his artwork, but also his music, family, and Native heritage in the piece that is headlined, “Madison artist John Hitchcock honors Native roots in prints and neon.”

He tells the newspaper, “There’s this moment right now where people from the Indigenous culture have this platform to speak. I think it’s a powerful time. Anytime we have a moment to speak of our family, our lineage, our culture and our customs — that’s part of it.”
