The work of UW–Madison’s Yeohyun Ahn is being showcased in a virtual exhibition at the Komechak Art Gallery at Benedictine University through Apr. 11.

The exhibition, entitled “O Antiphons + CODE,” is described as “exploring new biblical expression as generative typography” on the Komechak Art Gallery’s event webpage.

It is further described as follows:

The O Antiphons are used at Vespers on the last seven days of Advent in Western Christian traditions. The Roman Catholic Church has been singing the “O” Antiphons since the eighth century and they are the antiphons that accompany the Magnificat Canticle of Evening Prayer from December 17 – 23 every year.

O Antiphons use ancient biblical imagery from the Old Testament’s messianic hopes to proclaim the coming Christ to fulfill Old Testament hopes and present ones.

Their repeated use of the imperative “Come!” embodies the longing, of all, for the Divine Messiah.
