Goldie Raye is a graphic artist and painter who works primarily with paint, graphite, and pencil. She currently studies Fine Art and Design at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her most current series of mixed media paintings visually explore the integrative mind-body experience of meditation.
Breathing Room explores the possibilities that exist in emotional revolutions of the self through the clarity of repeated geometric forms, and the articulation of light and color. The material results that arise out of deep states of mental focus speak to emotional transformation and healing through heightened visual experience. The series Breathing Room are paintings on wood panel, mixed with screen print and colored pencil drawing. They turn out a delicacy of form and line whose frenetic patterns envelop an appetite for meditation and altered states of mind.
