Native American art began with painting on, and carving, rocks, and it continues to flourish through contemporary art styles. “Native Art Evolving,” the Promega Spring Art Showcase, features works from three contemporary Native American artists with UW-Madison connections and an artist of Mestizo heritage. The exhibit is on view at Promega BioPharmaceutical Technology Center, 5445 E. Cheryl Parkway, until May 26.

Among them is John Hitchcock, a printmaker who often uses printmaking’s long history of social and political commentary to scrutinize the relationships of community, land and culture.
