Each year, 10 million people worldwide receive a dementia diagnosis. For many, this clinical label comes with unforeseen obstacles and stigma, however, life post-diagnosis can be filled with humor, adventure, as well as great complexity. Through a multimodal exhibition, Rachapradit and Cataldo share the stories of Sheri and David, two Wisconsinites, navigating life post-diagnosis with the support of their spouses by finding joy in every day and making small changes to enhance independence. Limited seating available, book your reservation at: ongoingdays.eventbrite.com

A Thai interdisciplinary artist, Blue Rachapradit uses site-specific performance, installations, and video art, animating female entities who refuse to forget violence, subverting patriarchal and colonial strategies of erasure through rituals of remembrance and haunting to ask, how might art decolonize our relationships with memory, history, non-human entities, as well as each other, especially when hegemonic power systems have long perverted our interrelations? A Fine Arts MFA Candidate at UW–Madison, her work has been showcased in multiple parts of the world, from London to Dubai, including at the UN Climate Meeting, COP28.

A PhD Candidate in Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology at the UW–Madison Wenthur Lab, Noelle Cataldo is fascinated by the unknown, that something as familiar as the human brain and the functions associated with it remains largely a mystery. This gap led her to the field of neuroscience, investigating the role of chronic neuroendocrine stress and hypertension on cerebrovascular architecture, seeking to uncover information on the fast-acting therapeutic potential that psychedelics such as psilocybin and dissociative anesthetics such as ketamine hold.

Outside of the lab, Cataldo is a competitive Irish dancer for Trinity Irish Dance Academy as well as a member of the UW-Madison’s club Irish dance team, Sláinte. She completed her undergraduate studies with a B.S. in Microbiology and a Minor in Biochemistry at the University of Vermont, and spends a lot of time drawing.
