Join us for an reception that celebrates the beauty where art and science meet, while recognizing the legacy of John D. Wiley and his contributions to UW–Madison’s campus. This special event will feature:

Art alumna Tamara McLean’s [MFA ’25] award-winning artwork, Portal of Discovery, is featured at the gallery opening celebration. The piece, awarded the CHE Graduate Art Award in the spring, is an augmented reality experience developed in collaboration with Bryce Sprecher and consultant Declan Johnson. Portal of Discovery transports viewers through deep time, offering an immersive journey into the early history of our planet. By scanning the art or a QR code, users can launch the experience on their devices. For a fully immersive journey, headphones are recommended.
