Saturday, October 18 @ 9am – 12pm
Imparting knowledge to our students can be like trying to run an obstacle course. To reach them, today’s art teachers must navigate increasingly limited attention spans, fragile egos—sometimes even cynicism—and all while competing with cell-phones. In this workshop, 2D High School Art Teacher, Josh Newland, will share some of the tools, lesson plans, and evolving strategies that have served him well in the classroom for nearly twenty years. Topics will include:
- Skill Relevancy & Acquisition
- Teaching & Modeling A Growth Mindset
- Integrating Students’ Interests Into Curriculums
- Cultivating Student Buy-In
- Better Scaffolding for Better Outcomes
*Bakery items, orange juice, coffee, and fruit provided.
