Visiting Artist Colloquium: Pei-Hsuan Wang

ArtsatUW, Events, Visiting Artist Colloquium

Wednesday, September 16 @ 5:00 – 6:15pm
Chazen Auditorium
FREE & OPEN TO THE PUBLIC

Pei-Hsuan Wang’s practice traces kinship shaped by migration, memory, and the interplay between personal and canonized histories. Weaving together bio(mytho)graphical narratives, folklore, and cultural artifacts born of Asia-Pacific geopolitics, her work reflects on how meaning is carried and reconstructed across generations. Through sculpture, installation, video, drawing, and public intervention, Wang navigates migratory restlessness, incorporating materials ranging from sancai ceramics and institutionally loaned objects to motorized mechanisms.

Wang has presented work internationally at institutions, project spaces, biennials and triennials, and galleries including Framer Framed, Amsterdam (Shapeshifters: On Wounds, Wonders and Transformation, 2025); Princessehof National Museum of Ceramics, Leeuwarden (The Extent of Our Union, solo exhibition, 2025); Rhizoma Biennial at MASEREEL, Kasterlee (Our Future Is To Live With Bruises, public art commission, 2024); Kortrijk Triennial, Kortrijk (After Paradise: Every Love Story Is a Ghost Story, solo project, 2024); Beaufort Triennial along the Belgian coastline (Fabric of Life, public art commission, 2024); STUK Leuven, Leuven (At the Still Point of the Turning World, 2024); Publiek Park, Antwerp (Publiek Part, public art commission, 2023); Ballon Rouge Collective, Brussels (Gratitude Is a Colored Vessel, solo exhibition, 2023); Kunsthal Gent, Ghent (Ghost Eat Mud, solo project, 2022); Good Weather, Chicago (Longer Than Smoke & I’ve Left My Body to Occupy Others, solo exhibitions, 2020 & 2026); and Taipei Contemporary Art Center, Taipei (You Are My Sunshine, solo project, 2019), among others. pei-hsuanwang.com
