Where Words Cannot Follow brings together a constellation of paintings connected by Mitchell’s ongoing interests in experiential abstraction, color, and cosmography. Images of natural, celestial, and supernatural phenomena create visual intersections between mysticism, metaphysics, and natural science, with each of these lenses being important to her worldview and sense of meaning. This exhibition is a space intended for presence—however it takes shape—in the ecstasy of color, cavernous layers of paint, the mystery of making, or subtilties of looking and listening. May you find a quiet place where words cannot follow.

The University of Wisconsin-Madison Art MFA Qualifier Exhibition season continues with Kalil Mitchell’s art exhibition. The qualifier solo exhibitions are presented by the graduate students during their fourth semester as the evaluation review of their creative work to qualify for advancement in the MFA program. Come view the work and research by our newest cohort of developing artists!
