Kate Forer is an artist interested in themes of alienation, identity, commercialism, and bodies. Their most recent work has involved painting distorted figures onto soft sculptures. These objects exist in-between states—comforting and unfamiliar, flat image and sculpture, inanimate and human, hand-made and mass-produced—and explore an isolated, object-oriented contemporary existence. Humor is an important part of their work, and is essential in managing the tension between the animate and the object.
