The second place winner of the 2024 Wisconsin Artists Biennial Exhibit, hosted by the Museum of Wisconsin Art (MOWA) in West Bend, is a UW–Madison alum.

Scott Espeseth, who earned an MFA in printmaking from the School of Education’s Art Department in 2000, is the recipient of the second place award. “His work often depicts familiar spaces charged with a sense of dark presence, hauntings, or consciousness,” notes a MOWA Facebook post that was quoted in the Washington County Daily News. “For Espeseth, paper becomes the screen of his mind’s eye, resulting in monochromatic works that reflect our most human instincts.”

Espeseth received the award for his work, “Box With Cat,” 2023.
