Discover the latest developments in fine art, craft, and design at the UW–Madison Art Department’s free public lectures by some of the nation’s most prominent artists, critics, and gallery and museum directors.

The Art Department’s Visiting Artist Colloquium is a series supported by the Anonymous Fund and the Brittingham Trust. Visiting artist lectures are held on Wednesdays from 5-6:15 p.m. in Elvehjem L160 (800 University Ave.) through the academic year, and are free and open to the public.

Members of the public can also visit uwmadison.zoom.us/my/artcolloquium to view the lectures synchronously via Zoom.

This Wednesday, Sept. 20, will feature photographer Jon Lowenstein, who specializes in long-term, in-depth documentary explorations that confront the realms of power, poverty, and violence. The following week will feature Matthew Goulish and Lin Hixson, cofounders of “Every house has a door” in Chicago.

Visit the Art Department website to see the full schedule of lectures and learn more about all of the artists who will be speaking this fall.
