UW–Madison student Caitlin Mary Margarett (CMM) has been selected to show her work at the Satellite Art Show presented by Performance is Alive in Miami Nov. 30 – Dec. 4.

CMM is a first-year MFA student in the School of Education’s Art Department, focusing on 4D video and performance art.

The piece CMM is presenting, “for the love of god,” documents the damage and land destruction caused by the 2020 Iowa Derecho, and addresses anxieties regarding the climate crisis, the controlled curation of media coverage of natural disasters, and the drowning of our collective home.

The PERFORMANCE IS ALIVE / Satellite Art Show is a part of Miami Art Week and will run concurrently with Art Basel at Miami Beach, which brings thousands of artists, collectors, and gallerists from across the nation and internationally to the city.

“The opportunity to perform during Miami Art Week is unlike any show I have had up to this point. Thanks to Performance is Alive, I’ll be connecting with other working artists who utilize performance and time-based media in ways akin to my own practice,” says CMM.
