Located at the intersections of glass, paper, chemistry, and geology, Anna Riley’s art practice centralizes and isolates moments of material transformation. By way of photography and sculpture, the artist captures the power and complexity of transforming geologic materials through an intense and intimate focus on process-based methods of experimentation. Anna Riley will deliver two lectures—a WIES lecture on her material practice and a Glass Lab Visiting Artist lecture on her studio art practice. WIES is an interdisciplinary speaker series intended for educators and future educators across campus. It is organized by early career faculty members from across UW-Madison’s School of Education, with support from WCER, with the goal of bringing leading scholars to UW–Madison to share and discuss their work in education research.
