Christy Matson is a textile artist based in Los Angeles, CA. Each of her pieces begin as agile drawings and watercolors and are materialized through a Jacquard loom into a colorful weaving that, at once, evokes idealized geometry and the enchantment of ancient textiles.

Recent exhibitions include the Long Beach Museum of Art, Craft and Folk Art Museum Los Angeles, Museum of Contemporary Arts Houston, The Milwaukee Art Museum, The Knoxville Museum of Art, the Asheville Museum of Art, and The San Francisco Museum of Craft+Design.

Matson’s work is in the collection of the Art Institute of Chicago and Smithsonian Museum of Ameican Art’s Renwick Gallery as well as numerous corporate and private collections. in 2012 Matson was tenured and appointed as Associate Professor of Fiber and Material Studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
