Congratulations to James Pederson, MFA ’19, chosen as a Juror’s Selection Winner of the 2016 New American Painting MFA Annual Competition. This year’s competition drew more than 800 applicants from 112 Masters of Fine Arts programs throughout the United States. The competition’s juror was Elisabeth Sherman, Assistant Curator at the Whitney Museum of Art.

Introducing exceptional artists since 1993, the critically acclaimed periodical New American Paintings is a bimonthly juried exhibition in print. Thousands of artists compete every year, but only a limited number make it through the jurying process. Working closely with renowned curators, artists whose work deserves to be seen by a wider audience are selected and presented in America’s largest and most important series of artist competitions.

Find James’ work featured in New American Paintings 129, published April/May 2017.
