Amy Cannestra is a contemporary artist who uses multi-media installation to examine how the physical self, perceived self, and social self work with and against one another to form identity and influence how we carry our bodies. She holds an MFA from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and a BFA from the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design. She has exhibited internationally, most notably at the Grenada Pavilion at the 58th Venice Biennial.
Alongside her studio practice, Cannestra is a founder of SPOOKY BOOBS, a feminist collaboration that uses art, language, and design to visualize the trivialization of women’s experiences. In late 2022 she opened Task, a project space outside Milwaukee, Wisconsin. amycannestra.art
