Dr. Kathleen Desmond is a teacher, scholar, art critic, artist and academic leader with more than thirty years experience in higher education. Currently, Desmond is Byler Distinguished Faculty and Professor of Art at the University of Central Missouri where she teaches Ideas in the Visual Arts, Artists in Contemporary Society, Western and Non Western Art History, Contemporary Art, Women Artists, History and Criticism of Photography and Transatlantic Perspectives on Contemporary Art.
Desmond taught in the Missouri-London Program at Imperial College in London, England and was an academic visitor at University of Glamorgan, Wales. She was Faculty Director and Professor of Art at the Maastricht (NL) Center for Transatlantic Studies. She writes about contemporary art and artists and college art teaching. Currently she is working on a text tentatively titled Choices: Philosophical Ideas for Artists.
