Doug Rosenberg, Chair Art Dept

As your chair, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you to the start of the semester at the University of Wisconsin Art Department.  If it is your first semester or if you are returning, you will find that our faculty is deeply committed to art as a part of the very fabric of life; to creativity and self-expression in all its forms and to creating a safe and supportive space for you to express yourselves through your work here.

In the coming year, we are undertaking two separate reviews of our Art Department. We are trying to find out where are are succeeding and where we can do better in meeting the needs of our students.  Your voices will be an important part of that process, so we hope to hear from you moving forward.

Let’s start the year by committing to a culture of respect for each other, for the spaces you inhabit and for yourselves.  Art matters.  It matters more if we value everyone’s needs in a thoughtful and considerate manner.  Have a great year!
